We have squatters

We have uninvited "guests" at our house. Didn't ask permission. Just moved in. they aren't very intimidated by us, but they aren't very friendly either. Here is one of their favorite spots.

Drake isn't so hard to find - but, his wife is.

If you look very closely, you can see her sitting at the base of the bush directly behind him.

When I went out to introduce myself, Drake got shy and flew away - not far - but definitely away. His wife was a bit braver and took a second and checked me out.

Then they settled in a little bit away -
but they don't seem to feel like they need to leave.

Jim found a broken egg under one of the bushes.
We think it might be theirs but don't know how it got broken.

Jim's concern is that they will fowl (foul?) up the pond.
But it would be pretty cool to have baby ducks in the yard.
